North American Riding for the Handicapped Association
NARHA is a professional organization which promotes ethical and therapeutic equine activities through education and communication and sets standards and is involved in research for people with and without disabilities. Their purpose is to promote the rehabilitation of individuals with physical, psychological and learning disabilities through equine-facilitated activities and to help establish therapeutic riding centers. Their goal is to help support related medical research and train and certify therapeutic riding instructors and provide affordable liability insurance. Currently there are over 600 operating centers in forty-eight states and Canada.
